Anthony Hopkins
Anthony Hopkins Biography:
Born on December 31, 1937, in West Glamorgan, Wales, UK, the rather shy Anthony Hopkins struggled in the academic realm, but soon excelled onstage. After a stint at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Hopkins got his break in 1965 when he worked under Sir Laurence Olivier at the National Theatre in London.
He went on to play an astounding number of successful roles in both British and American films, but received the greatest acclaim for his Oscar-winning performance as Dr. Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs (1991).
Other notable films include Shadowlands, The Remains of the Day, Nixon and Amistad. He was knighted in 1993, and although Sir Anthony Hopkins became a United States citizen in April 2000, he retains both his British citizenship and his title.
