Meryl Streep
Meryl Streep Biography:
Born June 22, 1949, in Summit, N.J., the extraordinarily talented Meryl Streep can file high school homecoming queen as one of her credits, although that claim to fame is likely listed well below her place as one of the Academy Awards' most decorated actresses.
Known for her chameleon-like ability to master accents (most notably in 1982's harrowing, Oscar-winning Sophie's Choice) and for her willingness to perform emotionally wrenching material (opposite Dustin Hoffman in 1980's Kramer vs. Kramer), Streep has amassed a phenomenal list of critical accolades and is showing no sign of slowing down.
In addition to other notable work such as Out of Africa, One True Thing and Adaptation, she's stretched to add broad comedy and thriller-style action to her repertoire -- and the results are as entertaining and skillful as her more "serious" work.
