Natalie Portman
Natalie Portman Biography:
Natalie Portman was born in Jerusalem on June 9, 1981, to a doctor father and artist mother who moved the family to America when Natalie was 3 years old. She was discovered by a talent agent at age 11 and made her film debut in a major role in 1995's The Professional.
Impressive in small roles in Heat, Beautiful Girls, Everyone Says I Love You and Mars Attacks, Portman joined the Star Wars universe as Princess Amidala in Episode 1: The Phantom Menace (and its sequels). To prove to critics that her talent wouldn't be buried under copious computer-generated special effects, Portman was memorable as a Civil War widow in Cold Mountain (2003) and as Zach Braff's love interest in the acclaimed 2004 indie Garden State.
At the end of 2004, Portman wowed any remaining doubters with a gripping supporting performance in Closer that earned her a Golden Globe Award and her first Oscar nomination.
