Always keep your queue filled.
Any time the queue is left empty or with less
than your allotment, you will be missing out on DVD's that you could have at home to view. Also,
it is a good idea to manage your queue on a regular basis. Take advantage of the ability to move
titles to the top of your queue as your interests change. And leave empty slots if new titles are
about to be released to be the first to receive it.
-
Keep the DVD as long as you want to enjoy all of the bonus features.
The DVD format provides so many bonus features that weren't available with VHS, but after viewing
the movie you may not have the time to take advantage of all the extra features. With Netflix,
you can keep the disk until you have had time to watch the bonus features that make the DVD format
so much more interesting. And Netflix provides a list of the DVD's with the best bonus features.
Just check out the link on the left-hand column titled: Special Features.

Rate movies.
Rating movies is easy and fun. By rating movies, you will be
able to see your Recommendations on Netflix. And it will also provide you with a better
selection of available titles every time you visit the site. You can see your personalized recommendations
by clicking on the link titled Recommendations in the left-hand column of the Netflix site. You can also rate
movies right from the email Netflix sends when they receive a disk back from you. You don't have
to have rented a movie to rate it either. Any movie display page gives you the opportunity to give
your rating. The move movies you rate, the more accurate the recommendations will become.
-
Use the Customer Service area to answer questions.
Rather than sending a message
to a customer service rep, you can find the answer to most of your questions right on the site
itself. The link to the Customer Service area appears at the top of each page on Netflix.
Then the most common questions are listed first. These questions are updated frequently as
members need information.
-
Use the "Your Account" feature.
This site on Netflix gives you the ability
to manage your account, see your account activity, provides you with rental information, and lets
you manage your email subscriptions. The link to this area is provided at the top of each page
of Netflix.
-
Pre-select upcoming releases.
Netflix allows you to add theatrical releases
to your queue. This is a great way to make sure that you are one of the first to see a title when
it is released on DVD. All you do is search for the title of the current movie, then click on the
Save button provided. This adds the title to the section on your queue titled: DVDs Awaiting
Release. As the title becomes available, it will automatically be moved up to your available queue.
-
Change your rental membership as your viewing habits change.
You can easily
change programs from the "Your Account" area on Netflix. Rather than cancel your membership and
lose your rental queue if you know you are going to be watching fewer movies, you can change to
Netflix Service Lite with only 2 out at a time. Or if you know that you want more titles to view
with friends and family, you can increase the number you have out. Then switch back to the regular
plan if that fits your needs.
-
Check out the customer reviews.
If you aren't sure if a title is worth your
time, look over the customer reviews. These are typically honest opinions that can be used in
making your selections. You might even find a particular reviewer that you agree with, and you can
see all of their reviews in one place. It is like having a friend whose judgment you value in
movie taste. Also, look over the selections from Mr. DVD and Leonard Maltin. These guys are experts
and usually have some interesting ideas about titles that you might enjoy.
-
Use the 'Members Also Enjoyed' listing with most titles.
This is a list of
movies that are similar to the one you are checking out. If you add a title to your queue, you can
then see other similar titles that you might enjoy. And when you click on that movie, there will
be another list to check out. This can be a good way to discover titles you might have otherwise
missed.
-
Use the search feature.
By using the search feature, you can find matches
for not only titles, but also actors and directors of movies that are available on DVD.
-
Tell your friends about dvd-rent-online.com and Netflix.
While you don't
receive any bonus for referring your friends and family to Netflix, this is a great way to
introduce others to the Netflix service. And you can also purchase gift certificates which
can be an easy and valuable gift.
